Well, this didnât make much sense.
So often, todayâs contemporary stars are criticized for not reaching out to their predecessors, for assuming they know everything and canât possibly learning anything.
LeBron James, however, has a healthy respect for history. And it has bothered him at times â" as was evident in an interview that I conducted over All-Star Weekend â" that he has not received the approval of all the NBAâs legends.
During Mondayâs telecast, TNT analyst Reggie Miller, who ought to appreciate the appreciation that James has for the all-time greats, instead criticized James for that trait.
âThis is the most physically-gifted guy in our league,â Miller said. âHe left Cleveland and he had every right to join one of the top-five players in the league Dwyane Wade along with Chris Bosh [in Miami]. Now heâs reaching out to Hall of Famers to see what it takes [to win]? Enough is enough. Go out and actually do it on your own. What do you need more help for?â
Perhaps so that, unlike Miller, he holds up a trophy.
