Michael Jordan is still atop the basketball totem pole as the greatest to ever play the game. But many have begun to thrust Miami Heat star LeBron James into that 'rarefied air' of being called the NBA's best ever.
Of course he has the stats to back up that claim. And by winning three MVP's, two Olympic gold medals and his first NBA title this past June, the movement to anoint James and give him the crown has begun to pick up even more steam.
But there is one player who isn't quite ready to make that leap. More after the jump...
LeBron James' teammate, Dwyane Wade, a Chicago native who grew up watching and idolizing Jordan, isn't sure that 'The King' will ever reach the stature of 'His Airness' according to an interview with ESPN:
"I think everyone knows that (James) is a phenomenal, phenomenal player. He's one that we haven't seen, with the makeup of a 6-8 guy who runs as fast as any point guard, jumps as high as any center, and has the ability that he has to do so many things. But Michael Jordan is the greatest player of all time, that's who everyone shoots for. So it's going to be hard to surpass that."
LeBron James is surely a special talent, unlike any we've ever seen. But so was Michael Jordan.
And until LeBron wins just as many titles as MJ or more, this isn't a conversation worth having.
