Expect to hear a lot more of LeBron James' NFL prognostications.
The Los Angeles Lakers star announced Wednesday he has agreed to a deal with DraftKings to become an ambassador for the company and make football picks.
"Welcoming one of the most influential and greatest athletes of all time, LeBron James, to the DraftKings family is an absolute honor and privilege," DraftKings CEO Jason Robins said. "We look forward to working with a passionate sports fan who shares the same competitive mindset that echoes throughout the walls at DraftKings, while delivering exciting engagement opportunities to our customers and his loyal fanbase for years to come."
Throughout this season, James would occasionally hop on Instagram Live and break down the NFL action ahead. The four-time MVP may not be a full-time handicapper, but he certainly looked like one at times.
Writing for Action Network in October, Darren Rovell outlined how an official partnership with a sportsbook might be in the offing for James. The NBA's collective bargaining agreement doesn't preclude him from getting paid directly by a sportsbook as long as he's not wagering or analyzing games from the NBA or WNBA.
Beyond the broad details, it's unclear what the partnership between James and DraftKings will look like once the 2024 season kicks off or how his picks will be presented each week.
There's no question plenty of fans will be eager to hear his opinions about what's happening on the gridiron.
