What if LeBron James joined the Warriors to play with Steph Curry?

LeBron James and Steph Curry are widely regarded as two of the best basketball players in history and have been central figures in shaping the NBA landscape for over a decade now. Their remarkable careers and enduring impact on the sport have prompted speculation about the possibility of these future hall of famers teaming up before they retire.

Two storied careers and years of rivalry

Over the past few seasons, James has expressed his interest in teaming up with Steph Curry, stating that aside from playing alongside his son Bronny, he would love the chance to share the court with Curry before retiring from professional basketball.

The careers of James and Curry have coincided with a fierce rivalry on the basketball court. From 2015 to 2019, LeBron and the Cavaliers faced off against Steph Curry and the Warriors in four consecutive NBA Finals. The Cavaliers secured one championship, while the Warriors secured the other three.

From winning MVP awards to grabbing several NBA championships, both players have consistently demonstrated their exceptional talent and leadership qualities on the court, earning admiration and respect from fans and other players around the league.

Now, at 39 years old, LeBron is currently in his 20th season in the league, spending his sixth season with the Lakers. Meanwhile, Curry, at 35 years old, is embarking on his 15th year in the league, all with the Warriors. Rumors continue to grow hoping to see LeBron join Steph on the court before hanging up the sneakers.

Will LeBron join Steph?

If this question was asked a few years ago, fans would think it's a joke. Now, that is not the case at all. LeBron has expressed frustration with the Lakers on several occasions this season. It has become incredibly logical and realistic for him to join Steph Curry and the Warriors before calling it quits.

Of course, there are challenges to overcome before LeBron and Curry could become teammates. Both players are under contract with their respective teams, and any move would require careful negotiation and planning.

Additionally, there would be questions about how their playing styles would mesh, who would take on the leadership role on the court and who would take the last shot.

Lakers and Warriors struggles

Moreover, the way this season is panning out for the Lakers, this may be the wake-up call LeBron needs to make a decision. The Lakers continue to struggle to find their groove this season, showing that they could use more All-Star-level help.

Currently positioned in ninth place, the Lakers hover just outside playoff contention with a 30-26 record. James continues to lead the team in assists, averaging 7.8 per game, while also ranking 16th in the NBA for scoring, with an average of 24.8 points per game.

On the other hand, the Warriors have been battling with player injuries and inconsistencies on the offensive and defensive end. With Klay Thompson showing inconsistent numbers this year, and Chris Paul being sidelined with injuries, the Warriors are also in need of major help.

The Golden State Warriors are scheduled to match up against the Los Angeles Lakers this Friday, February 23rd. The top PA sportsbooks are the place to make your wagers for the game.

LeBron to Golden State or Steph down to LA

Both clubs could be ideal destinations for these two to pair up, but the odds of Steph Curry leaving Golden State are very unlikely in comparison to LeBron wanting to be traded out of Los Angeles. In other words, this duo has a higher chance of playing together in a Warriors uniform rather than a Lakers uniform.

The simple reason is that Steph is most likely going to retire as a Warrior. He's never played for another team and has demonstrated unwavering loyalty to the Warriors organization and brought four NBA Championships to the franchise.

Whereas, LeBron helped LA win the 2020 NBA Championship, but has not shown any progress with the team since. Just these last two seasons, the Lakers have struggled to secure a playoff spot.

Let's also not forget that LeBron would also have the opportunity to play for Hall of Fame player and coach, Steve Kerr, rather than potentially staying under the leadership of someone like Darvin Ham, who lacks Kerr's accolades and experience.

How would it look to have LeBron and Steph together?

Envisioning LeBron James and Stephen Curry suiting up together raises a fascinating question: What would it actually look like? At first glance, the idea of this combination almost seems too good to be true. Picture this: the all-time scoring leader paired with the all-time leader in three-point field goals. It's a scenario that reeks of trouble for the opposing defense for the entire game.

Pairing LeBron's unmatched diverse skill set, which includes playmaking, on-court leadership, ball handling and strong offensive presence, with Curry's limitless range and elite off-the-ball movement, would create an offensive juggernaut capable of dismantling any defense they encounter.

Witnessing these two players in action together would be incredibly entertaining. While their age may have caught up with their endurance or athleticism, they still can dominate a game when necessary. Keep in mind, that both players are averaging over 20+ points per game along with 5+ assists per game. If the two team up we'd be making that NBA moneyline bet every night.

The concept of LeBron James and Stephen Curry joining forces remains speculative, yet both superstars have achieved nearly everything they sought to accomplish in their basketball careers. While this idea might have seemed far-fetched several years ago, it now presents a genuine possibility that fans could witness as soon as next season.

The Opening Tip * ABC cameras caught LeBron James reading The Hunger Games before the Miami Heat played the Indiana Pacers on Sunday. Shortly thereafter, the Miami Heat small forward proceeded to go into full Katniss Everdeen mode to the tune of 40 points, 18 rebounds and nine assists as the Heat pulled out a hard-fought 101-93 victory. After a slow start, Heat guard Dwyane Wade finished with 30 points, nine rebounds and six assists of his own. But Sunday afternoon was all about James and his gaudy numbers, virtually all of which we...

What Happened to the Rivalry Between LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony? - Bleacher Report

They were two young stars with unique and special abilities on the basketball court. They had recently played in a high-attention scholastic contest against each other. The two squared off in a high school showcase game the following year that pitted the player regarded as the best senior in the country (Anthony) against the one that was the best junior in the country (James), a game Anthony’s team wo...
