Team USA’s quest for gold at the Paris Olympics continues concludes with a matchup against Victor Wembenyama and France on Saturday at 3:30 p.m ET.

The U.S. came back from 17 points down against Serbia to earn a spot in the final, winning the fourth quarter 32-15. France, on the other hand, upset Canada and then Germany in the quarterfinal and semifinal and will be ready for a tall task.

Paris 2024 Olympic basketball USA vs. France odds, preview & predictions

Team USA is a 16-point favorite and is -1400 on the moneyline against France. France is +760 on the moneyline. The points total is 176.5 with -110 odds on both sides.

The U.S. opened as a -550 favorite to win Gold before the tournament started. France has largely floated around fourth, with Germany and Canada earning better odds at different points.

Stephen Curry’s 36 points were the headliner of the USA’s semifinal against Serbia, though Curry, Kevin Durant and LeBron James were all excellent and willed the team to victory down the stretch.

The French team’s upsets in the last two rounds both came in low-scoring affairs. They held Canada to 72 points and then Germany to 69. Shockingly, Guerschon Yabusele was the leading scorer in both games after he replaced Rudy Gobert in the starting lineup.

The USA is much better than France, and they just survived their biggest test as a team â€" a 17-point deficit against the best player in the world, Nikola Jokic.

France’s decision to downsize their lineup will make it tough for them to deal with the size of the Red, White and Blue.

Joel Embiid scored 70 points during the NBA season in his lone matchup with Victor Wembanyama, who is the only player in France’s lineup that has his size (unless they start Gobert again).

France also hasn’t shown an ability to make 3-point shots in high-stakes games. The U.S. has thanks to Curry and others, and there simply isn’t an area of the game they aren’t prepared for.

The King is back playing the role he was born for: the point guard. He recorded the second triple-double in Team USA history against Serbia and recorded nine or more assists in three of his last five games. He’s going to play heavy minutes in the most important game of the Olympics and should have enough chances to get over his line.

Wemby is going to need to hover around the basket even more than usual, again, because of the USA’s size. He only had seven rebounds against Germany but had 11 or more in three games before, bringing him to 3-2 in favor of the over at the Olympics.
