LeBron James' Immediate Reaction To Bronny James' First NBA Basket Isn't What We Expected

Bronny James of the Los Angeles Lakers scored his first NBA basket on Wednesday, but the reaction of his father and teammate, LeBron James, was stoic. (Watch the video below.)

The younger James sank a midrange jump shot in the waning minutes of the Lakers' blowout loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cleveland crowd erupted, well aware that Bronny was a constant presence in the arena when his father starred for the Cavs.

But his dad? Looks like he ate something that disagreed with him.

Granted, he might have been more expressive elsewhere in the immediate moment. Or he was glum over getting pasted by his old team. Or maybe he was feeling the effects of a cold he reportedly had.

The elder James, a four-time NBA champion who's the league's all-time scorer, certainly seemed happier in a postgame interview with his son, though.

"To see him get his first NBA basket in this arena where he grew up not too far away from here, it's an unbelievable moment," he said.

Bronny was pretty stoked, too. "I was still in game mode when I hit the shot, so I didn't really acknowledge I while I was playing, but it felt good after," he said.

Fans chanted the younger James' name before he entered the game with about 5 minutes to play.

Wednesday was his first action since Oct. 22, when the two became the first father and son to play together in an NBA game.

He logged two assists plus that first bucket, in a homecoming for both Jameses.

"The chants really got me," Bronny James said. "I was straight-faced, but I felt it and it felt pretty good, especially coming from here."

A native of Akron, Ohio, James attended St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in the city, becoming one of the nation's most highly touted prospects. The Cavaliers selected James with the No. 1 pick in the 2003 NBA draft.

James, who spent 11 seasons with the Cavaliers across two separate stints with the team, often shifts into an extra gear when he returns home. Holding a 9-2 record, he's averaging 31.6 points, 9.2 rebounds and 7.5 assists per game on 54% shooting when playing in Cleveland as an opponent.

Last season, James described returning to play at home as "just special."

"Stepping back on this floor is always a pretty cool feeling, looking up there and pretty much being a part of all of the banners in this arena," James said. "And the No. 1 banner, the one that sits in the middle, was that '16 championship, so that's pretty cool."

Here's a look back at James' notable games against the Cavaliers in Cleveland.

    Date: March 21, 2022

    Stats: 38 points, 12 assists, 10 rebounds, 58.6% shooting

    Results: 131-120 Lakers win

In the middle of a down season in Los Angeles, James dominated during his trip back home.

He scored 17 points in the second quarter en route to a 38-point triple-double, becoming the sixth player in NBA history with at least three triple-doubles against his former team, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

It also marked his third triple-double against the Cavaliers, all of which have come on the road. The only other players in NBA history with three triple-doubles against their former team in their building are Domantas Sabonis and Fat Lever. His 38 points are second most in a triple-double against a player's former team.

LeBron's performance also included his former Cavaliers teammate, Kevin Love, being on the end of a memorable highlight. James emphatically slammed over Love near the end of the second quarter. The King then joked about hopefully still being invited to Love's wedding.

    Date: Jan. 25, 2021

    Stats: 46 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals, 2 blocks, 73.1% shooting

    Results: 115-108 Lakers win

James doesn't need extra motivation when he returns to Cleveland. But this time around, it didn't hurt.

Near the end of the third quarter, he had a back-and-forth exchange with a person courtside, whom James said was a member of the Cavaliers' front office.

"I felt he was a little too excited about seeing me miss," he said.

It resulted in a 21-point fourth quarter from James, outscoring Cleveland by himself, for his highest-scoring fourth quarter since 2017. He became the oldest Lakers player to have 40 points since Kobe Bryant's 60-point outing in his final game.

After the game, James playfully quipped: "It's a good thing for him I only come here once."

    Date: Nov. 21, 2018

    Stats: 32 points, 14 rebounds, 7 assists, 55% shooting

    Results: 109-105 Lakers win

Unlike his first trip back to Cleveland, James received a hero's welcome after leaving the franchise a second time.

The Cavaliers showed a video tribute during a first-quarter timeout, leading to a standing and resounding ovation. James acknowledged the crowd, pointing to all four corners of the building, then played a key role in the Lakers victory.

James scored or assisted on 11 straight points in the fourth quarter to erase an eight-point deficit. After the game, he acknowledged the differences in his returns.

"From the time we landed yesterday, it just felt a different way," he said. "I'm a different person. We're all different from eight years ago, both good and bad. But more importantly, this experience has been great."

    Date: March 19, 2014

    Stats: 43 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 blocks, 73.7% shooting

    Results: 100-96 Miami Heat win

Though James' final appearance in Cleveland as a member of the Heat wasn't as raucous as his first, he still made his mark on the court.

James jumped out of the gates early with 25 first-quarter points on 10-of-11 shooting. It set the tone for an extra-efficient 40-point night on 73.7% shooting, his sixth-highest field goal percentage that season.

He had six points in the last two minutes of the game to clinch a close Miami win. Four months later, he was back with the Cavaliers.

    Date: Dec. 2, 2010

    Stats: 38 points, 8 assists, 5 rebounds, 60% shooting

    Results: 118-90 Miami Heat win

James' first return to Cleveland was nothing short of a spectacle. Fans booed constantly, signs were scattered throughout the crowd and objects were thrown. None of it mattered for LeBron.

He scored 24 of his 38 points in the third quarter, propelling the Heat to a victory in a harsh environment. He also had a game-high plus-minus of plus-26, the third highest of his entire season.

James said that the boos from the crowd were probably the loudest he has ever heard.

"I felt the animosity. I felt the scrutiny. But once the ball was tipped, I'm in my safe haven," he said. "There's nothing that can stop me from trying to be the best I can be."

JJ Redick furious after LeBron James shot-clock violation: ‘Shoot the f–king ball’

There's a new sheriff in Los Angeles, and he's not afraid to let the town's biggest gun know it.

After LeBron James failed to get a shot off and the Lakers incurred a shot-clock violation during their game in Phoenix on Monday, the broadcast cut to an impassioned JJ Redick yelling from the sideline at his superstar to "shoot the f–king ball!

The 40-year-old rookie head coach — No. 29 in franchise history — was hired in June 2024 to lead the Lakers and James, 39, in what figures to be the final chapter of his career.

And though coaches who previously manned the King's sideline often appeared afraid to truly coach the 20-time All-Star and four-time NBA champion, Redick, at least thus far in the young season, is harboring no such insecurities.

Through their first three games with Redick at the helm, the Lake Show rattled off three consecutive wins at home against Minnesota, Phoenix and Sacramento.

Redick's profane explosion, which came in the Lakers' first loss of the season and their first on the road, occurred with about eight minutes remaining in the second quarter.

From the game broadcast, it's not clear whether James was unaware of the dwindling shot clock or if he actively decided against putting up the basketball because he didn't have a clean look and didn't want to hurt his shooting percentage.

James didn't seem handcuffed at any other point in the game, though he only hit 3 of 14 from the floor and 2-for-5 from beyond the arc; James finished with 11 points — the least among Lakers' starters.

Though Los Angeles was leading 36-34 at the time of the turnover, Phoenix went on to win, 109-105.

Both the Lakers and Suns now sit at 3-1.

Prior to assuming the head coaching gig in Los Angeles, Redick had a 15-year playing career of his own that included stints with the Magic, Clippers, 76ers, Pelicans, Bucs and Mavericks.

And, the word at the car wash is he's just as dedicated in his role now as he was during his playing days.

The Lakers will look to get back into the win column when they take on the Cavaliers on Wednesday.

Shannon Sharpe Sides With LeBron James Cursing Rui Hachimura Out For Not Passing To Him For A Heat Check

Much like he did during his Hall of Fame NFL career, Shannon Sharpe continues to protect his team's quarterback. After all, what is LeBron James if not the offensive leader and orchestrator of the Los Angeles Lakers?

Sharpe's defensiveness towards the King was on full display in 2022 when he nearly got into a scuffle with Ja Morant's father over comments made during a Lakers-Grizzlies game. He continued that trend today by criticizing Rui Hachimura for not taking James' hot hand during the kings game into consideration.

"Normally, they allow a guy to take a heat check. I mean, a guy gets cooking like that, you see a guy come half-court, one step towards half-court, he let it fly…Rui said nah. Let me interrupt your normally scheduled program of LeBron cooking and try to get me one," Shannon Sharpe commented on his podcast 'Nightcap'.

Sharpe's anger comes following the Lakers' comeback win against the Kings on Saturday night. After the first three quarters, it looked like Domantas Sabonis and De'Aaron Fox had the keys to the game. Instead, Crypto Arena witnessed LeBron James single-handedly spearhead the Lakers' comeback, scoring 16 points in just 2 minutes and 59 seconds.

That's why James, and even the fans watching, were surprised when Rui Hachimura decided not to swing it to the 'man on fire' with 8 minutes on the clock. Hachimura instead missed a 4-foot contested jumper and earned the ire of the King, who was open above the break.

"I just made 10 in a row and you're gonna take a pull up contested 2? Swing, swing motherf***er," LeBron James sniped at his teammate in the ensuing timeout.

Everyone inside Crypto Arena, and the fans tuning in online, were primed to see more of LeBron James' dominance on the offensive end. He had made all six of his shot attempts in the fourth quarter, but after Hachimura interrupted his streak of consecutive baskets, James didn't convert another basket for the rest of the night and finished out the game with 32 points, 14 rebounds, and 10 assists.

Fortunately, though, the Lakers secured their third straight win to begin the season, eking out a 131-127 victory. The King's emotions were a reflection of how tight the game was, and in his post-game presser, he reflected on the improvements his team has shown this season.

After overcoming the Kings yesterday, the Purple and Gold have started the season 3-0 for the first time since 2010. Will LeBron James be able to surpass the Lakers' 8-game win streak to open the 2010-11 NBA season? We'll find out soon, as the Purple and Gold now face a five-game road trip, which starts with their second matchup against the Phoenix Suns on Monday.

LeBron James was not happy with his teammate Rui Hachimura after the team's latest game.

On Saturday night, the Lakers took on the Kings at home ahead of their first road trip of the season.

LeBron had a vintage performance when he recorded a triple-double by scoring 32 points, 14 rebounds, and 10 assists.

"Just caught a rhythm, got my outside shot going, got a couple and-ones in the paint as well, got a backdoor from D-Lo that worked well. Just tried to see what I had going and help us get over the hump on this back-to-back."

LeBron spoke about his team still learning to play with each other early in the season.

"It's a process still for us, we're still learning," LeBron said "We wanna continue to get better and better every night and I think through three games we did that, but it's gonna be a tough road trip for us coming up. I think it's 11 days, five games and there's some tough opponents so it'll be a test for us."

LeBron James Drops Triple Double on Back to Back Night in Win Over Kings

LeBron James delivered an impressive triple-double performance, scoring 32 points, grabbing 14 rebounds, and dishing out 10 assists, leading the Los Angeles Lakers to a 131-127 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Saturday.

At 39 years old, LeBron who is looking like Benjamin Button, is the oldest active player in the NBA, and continued to defy age-related expectations with his elite play. Like this is really nuts. He's on a back to back night and taking over games. He will be FORTY on December 30th. Wild.

Teammate Anthony Davis added 31 points and nine rebounds, maintaining his streak of scoring over 31 points in every game this season.

For the first time in years and under new head coach JJ Redick, the Lakers remain undefeated at 3-0. The game highlighted LeBron's skill and endurance as he took charge in the fourth quarter, scoring a critical 16 points to rally the Lakers from a deficit.

Get this, the Lakers had built up a 15-point lead in the first half, but Sacramento narrowed the gap, trailing just 64-60 by halftime and eventually taking a seven-point lead in the third quarter. LeBron's late-game heroics, however, turned the tide. Davis solidified the Lakers' lead by sinking a crucial three-pointer with 37 seconds left, putting Los Angeles up 128-123 after the Kings had brought it within two points.

Kings' star Domantas Sabonis also posted a triple-double in the loss, scoring 29 points on an efficient 10-for-14 shooting, along with 12 rebounds and 10 assists. So basically he's still killing but they fell short to the revitalized Lakers.

Anthony Davis Praised By NBA Fans as LeBron James, Lakers Win vs. Kevin Durant, Suns

    Adam Pantozzi/NBAE via Getty Images

The Los Angeles Lakers overcame a 22-point second quarter deficit to defeat the Phoenix Suns 123-116 on Friday evening.

Anthony Davis led L.A. with 35 points on 11-of-18 shooting (13-of-17 from free throw line), eight rebounds and two blocks. Austin Reaves added 26 points, eight assists and three steals. LeBron James posted 21 points and eight dimes.

L.A. shot 14-of-27 from three-point range, with Reaves making 5-of-7 from deep.

The Lakers trailed 48-26 early in the second quarter but kept chipping away and saw themselves down by just nine (61-52) going into the third. L.A. caught fire in that frame, scoring 35 points to take a two-point lead (87-85) into the fourth.

The Lakers soon went on a 20-10 run and held Phoenix at arm's length for the remainder of the game.

Davis also scored nine points in the final 5:22, including this fast-break dunk after a James dish for a 113-102 lead with 2:59 remaining in regulation.

For the Suns, Kevin Durant led the way with 30 points, while Devin Booker added 23. But the host Lakers were too strong in the second half and gave first-year head coach JJ Redick a 2-0 start.

Davis was the superstar here three nights after he dropped 36 points and 16 rebounds in a season-opening 110-103 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

    He got his well-deserved praise.

The Lakers will stay home Saturday when they host the Sacramento Kings at 10:30 p.m. ET.

LeBron and Bronny James made history on court. Now they may have to appear in court over alleged car crash

Hours after they became the first father-son duo to share an NBA court together, LeBron and Bronny James were sued for their alleged involvement in a 2022 car crash in the desert town of Littlerock in the Antelope Valley.

A lawsuit filed Wednesday morning in Los Angeles County Superior Court claims the Lakers teammates "negligently owned, controlled, repaired, entrusted, maintained and operated an automobile as to cause it to, and it did, become involved in an accident or collision" that caused injury to the plaintiffs and damage to the vehicle they were in.

According to the complaint, plaintiffs Kiara McGillen and April Lopez were in a car on Pearblossom Highway at or near the intersection of 87th Street on Nov. 13, 2022, when the alleged incident occurred. McGillen was the driver, but the vehicle is owned by Lopez.

The Antelope Valley office of the California Highway Patrol was unable to find a report filed on that date regarding an accident at that location. The lawsuit does not indicate whether CHP was notified of the incident.

The lawsuit states that the plaintiffs "sustained personal injuries which caused and will continue to cause pain, discomfort and physical disability," and they have "employed and will employ in the future physicians, surgeons and others for examination, treatment and care."

The plaintiffs are seeking unspecified damages. They are represented by the Law Offices of Larry H. Parker, which did not immediately respond to The Times. A representative for LeBron James also did not immediately respond.

In addition to LeBron and Bronny James, the lawsuit includes multiple "Does" as possible defendants.

A court hearing has been scheduled for Feb. 19, 2025.

LeBron James is in his 22nd NBA season and is the league's all-time leading scorer. His oldest son, Bronny James, was a second-round draft pick for the Lakers this offseason.

They played together for more than two minutes Tuesday night during the Lakers' season-opening win over the Minnesota Timberwolves. LeBron finished the game with 16 points, five rebounds and four assists. Bronny missed both shots he attempted but grabbed a rebound.

LeBron, Bronny James play together in Lakers season opener; first father-son duo to share court in NBA history

Lakers defeat Timberwolves in season opener as Bronny James makes history: Live reaction and updates

LOS ANGELES — The James family made history Tuesday night with the patriarch, LeBron James, and his eldest son, Bronny, appearing in the same regular-season game, marking the first time a father-son duo shared the court in the NBA's 79-year existence.

In the 2024-25 season opener, where the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 110-103, the big moment happened with 4:00 left in the second quarter when both LeBron and Bronny emerged from the bench together to check into the game.

The Lakers were ahead 51-35 at the time and LeBron already scored six points with three rebounds. The father and son peeled off their warmup jerseys after approaching the scorer's table for a stint that lasted 2:31.

"I was wondering during the dead ball why everyone was cheering so loud, and then I realized what was happening," Lakers coach JJ Redick said. "We were feeling out the game, and it was going to be towards the end of the first half, and the game presented an opportunity for (Bronny) to get some minutes."

Bronny gave up a quick basket to Julius Randle, had his first shot blocked by reigning Defensive Player of the Year Rudy Gobert and then attempted a shot on a pass from, who else, LeBron, with about 1:40 left before halftime but missed. Bronny guarded All-Star Anthony Edwards and forced a missed shot on the Lakers' next defensive possession.

During their brief time together, LeBron, the NBA's all-time leading scorer, crushed a baseline dunk in front of Ken Griffey Sr. and Jr., who know a thing or two about famous father-son duos.

When Bronny subbed out with 1:29 before halftime, Los Angeles public address announcer Lawrence Tanter called attention to what just happened, telli ng the sold-out crowd it had "just witnessed history."

"That moment, us being at the scorer's table together and checking in together is something I will never forget," LeBron said. "No matter how old I get, no matter how my memory may fade as I get older or whatever, I will never forget that moment."

The rest of the James family — wife and mother Savannah, son and brother Bryce, daughter and sister Zhuri, who turned 10 on Tuesday — were seated on the baseline near the Laker bench. LeBron became emotional talking about them as part of the milestone he and Bronny reached.

"Everything was just great today," LeBron said. "Everything, from the moment I woke up. I saw my daughter before she went to school. I went to work, saw my son at work. Get to the game, just everything, man."

As for Bronny, who went scoreless in those three minutes and did not return, said he tried "not to focus on everything that's going on around me; I'm focu sed on going in as a rookie and trying not to mess up.

"I was a little anxious going into it," said Bronny, who the Lakers drafted at No. 55 in June. "That first game stepping on the court, it's a little nerve wracking. But once we got on the court, we got up and down a couple times, it all went away and I felt pretty good."

The game itself belonged to Anthony Davis, who opened with a monstrous 36 points and 16 rebounds in 37 minutes. Edwards paced the Timberwolves with 27 points and five 3s. Davis now has 100 games with at least 25 points and 15 rebounds.

LeBron finished with 16 points, five rebounds and four assists. Rui Hachimura added 18 points for the Lakers. The game, and win, w as the first that counted for Redick on the Lakers' bench, and he was met with the customary water bottle shower by his players for winning his first game. The team hired him over the summer after one season as an NBA broadcaster for ESPN and a 15-year playing career before that.

Edwards paced the Timberwolves with 27 points and five 3s. Randle, the former Laker who was traded to Minnesota by the New York Knicks in the blockbuster deal for Karl-Anthony Towns in September, finished with 16 points and nine rebounds in his Wolves debut.

"This is the first time we had a LeBron moment that was something huge and we won," cracked Davis, referring to, among other things, the Lakers losing on the night LeBron passed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the league's most prolific scorer.

The LeBron-Bronny simultaneous check-in marked the first time in NBA history that a father and so n appeared in a real game together and just the fourth time in modern major American professional sports. LeBron and Bronny, who briefly appeared together in a preseason game on Oct. 6, joined the NHL's Howes, father Gordie and sons Mark and Marty with the 1979-80 Hartford Whalers, Tim Raines Sr. and Tim Raines Jr. (Baltimore Orioles, 2001) and the Griffeys (Seattle Mariners, 1990).

The Griffeys, who took in a pregame meal with Nike executives at Smashburger at L.A. Live, were seated under the basket on the other end of the court from the Lakers' bench. Ken Sr. and Ken Jr. embraced LeBron and Bronny (remember, Bronny's birth name is LeBron) and posed for pictures before the game.

"In the moment, we still had a job to do," LeBron said. "We weren't trying to make it a circus, we weren't trying to make it about us. We wanted to make it about the team."

This is LeBron's 22nd season, which ties him with Vince Carter for the most seasons in NBA history. At age 39, LeBron has won four NBA championships, four league MVPs, started a record 20 All-Star Games and is coming off his third Olympic gold medal with Team USA in Paris, among other career highlights.

Bronny, 20, was entering the eighth grade when his dad joined the Lakers and the family moved to Los Angeles full time from Cleveland. He mentioned LeBron's leading the Cavaliers to the NBA title in 2016 and watching him co-lead Team USA's comeback against Serbia in an Olympic semifinal last summer as the two most inspiring things he'd watched his father do on the court.

"With both of those I was like, 'this is a crazy sport, like, I really want to be part of this,'" Bronn y said.

Bronny overcame heart surgery in the summer of 2023 to play collegiately for the USC Trojans last season. Though he mostly struggled as a role player, the Lakers not only drafted Bronny but awarded him a four-year, $7.9 million contract — rare for someone selected as low in the draft.

"We had a moment when he was drafted, we all got an opportunity to be together as a family in New York," LeBron said. "We had a moment there because we were just thinking about not too long ago that the scare happened. … And when he's able to grace an NBA floor, if that's tonight or whenever the case may be, it'll be another one of those moments just to know the adversity that he went through.

"I've had a couple of family members that have had heart surgeries. Some of them older, some of them younger. And to know how long it kind of takes to get back to yourself, to see him be able to play in a college Division I game the same year that he had heart surgery was, like, a 'wow' moment. And I knew that at that moment that there really was going to be nothing to stop him from getting to this — to anything that he wants to do. And he wanted to continue to play basketball."

LeBron illustrated his son's desire to stay on the court by recalling Bronny's first words after heart surgery, which followed an episode of cardiac arrest he suffered while working out with the Trojans two summers ago.

"One of the first things that he asked, he asked the doctors after his heart surgery, like, 'When can I play again?'" LeBron said. "Not like, 'How long is it going to take for my heart to heal?' Or not, 'How long was I in surgery?' None of those. He asked, 'When can I play again?'"

Bronny's debut was not quite as explosive as his dad's first game as a professional. On Oct. 29, 2003, LeBron scored 25 poin ts with six boards and nine assists for the Cleveland Cavaliers in Sacramento, months after they made him the No. 1 pick of the draft.

When the G League season begins next month, the Lakers are expected to shuttle Bronny back and forth between the NBA and their affiliate at South Bay. When Bronny isn't in the G League, he is not expected to hold a major role on the Lakers, at least initially.

"I talked about it years and years ago. And for this moment to come on, this is pretty cool," LeBron said. "I don't know that it's actually going to hit the both of us for a minute."

At halftime, the Lakers honored the late Jerry West with a tribute video. West, who died on June 12 at 86, is one of the greatest to ever play for the Lakers and guided the franchise to six championships as general manager.

LeBron and Bronny James make history as the NBA’s first father-son duo to play together

LeBron and Bronny James become the first father-son duo in NBA history to share the court together.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — LeBron James and Bronny James became the first father and son to play in the NBA together Tuesday night during the Los Angeles Lakers ' season opener.

LeBron and Bronny checked into the game together with four minutes left in the second quarter, prompting a big ovation from a home crowd aware of the enormity of the milestone. LeBron had already started the game and played 13 minutes before he teamed up with his 20-year-old son to make history.

LeBron James is the 39-year-old top scorer in NBA history, while LeBron James Jr. was a second-round pick by the Lakers last summer. They are the first father and son to play in the world's top basketball league at the same time, let alone on the same team.

Ken Griffey Sr. and Ken Griffey Jr. were courtside at the Lakers' downtown arena to witness the same history they made in Major League Baseball. The two sluggers played 51 games together for the Seattle Mariners in 1990 and 1991 as baseball's first father-son duo.

The Jameses and the Griffeys met up during pregame warmups for some photos and a warm chat between two remarkable family lines.

LeBron, a four-time NBA champion and a 20-time All-Star, first spoke about his dream to play alongside Bronny a few years ago, while his oldest son was still in high school. The dream became real after Bronny entered the draft as a teenager following one collegiate season, and the Lakers grabbed him with the 55th overall pick.

Video: Lakers' LeBron, Bronny James Make History as 1st Father-Son Duo to Play in NBA

Los Angeles Lakers fans didn't have to wait long to see history this season.

LeBron James and Bronny James checked in together during the second quarter of Tuesday's season opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves and received a standing ovation. In checking in together, they became the first father-son duo in NBA history to play in a regular-season game together.

While a game between the Lakers and Timberwolves is a potential playoff preview between two possible contenders in the Western Conference, the biggest storyline coming into the contest was the chance of the James duo playing together.

It was NBA history, but it wasn't sports history.

After all, Gordie Howe played with sons Mark and Marty in the NHL, while Tim Raines and Tim Raines Jr. also played together in MLB. And the most famous father-son duo to play together was Ken Griffey Sr. and Ken Griffey Jr.

The baseball legends were in attendance for Tuesday's game:

The Griffeys actually hit back-to-back home runs when they were playing together on the Seattle Mariners. LeBron James joked it might take a couple of lobs for the Lakers teammates to match that accomplishment:

It was quite the moment for the Purple and Gold and all those in attendance, but it might not be a regular occurrence.

Bronny James was subbed out shortly after entering the game and isn't expected to be a major part of the team's rotation. He is a second-round draft pick in his rookie season and may need some time to adjust to the NBA game.

But he will always be a part of history after Tuesday's contest.

Famed Father-Son Duo Hope To See LeBron James And Son Make History In NBA Opener

LeBron James and Bronny James of the Los Angeles Lakers could become the first NBA father and son to play on the court together as soon as Tuesday night ― and another famous sports duo will be there to witness it.

Ken Griffey Sr. and Ken Griffey Jr., the first father and son to play together in Major League Baseball, plan to attend the Lakers' home game against the Minnesota Timberwolves in an NBA season opener.

"It's a big deal for my dad and I to be there," Griffey Jr. said earlier this week. "We made history, now we get to watch history."

The Griffeys played on the Seattle Mariners during the 1990 and 1991 seasons, and in a signature moment, hit back-to-back home runs on Sept. 14, 1990.

The Jameses played together just once during the preseason, ESPN reported, but did not create scoring opportunities for each other. Still, it was reportedly the first NBA preseason game in w hich a father and son played together.

The chance to make history in front of the Griffeys got the younger James pumped.

"It's going to be insane," he said, per USA Today. "Only two families to do it, so it's going to be a crazy experience, especially with what they've done."

Other fathers and sons have played pro sports together, however.

Regarding Tuesday's game, Lakers Coach JJ Redick told ESPN that "nothing's been finalized for anythi ng yet."

LeBron James, the NBA's all-time leading scorer and a four-time NBA champion, has dreamed of teaming up with his son for years.

The Lakers selected Bronny James as the 55th pick in the NBA draft after the guard s first and only tumultuous year at USC. He went into cardiac arrest during a summer practice in 2023 and was found to have a congenital heart defect. But he later returned to the team and had modest success.

This could be a big chance for the 20-year-old to fight back at the "nepo baby" label.

LeBron James said previously that his son "doesn't care" about the negative talk.

"Bronny doesn't give a fuck," he said.

LeBron James laughs off Kevin Garnett exposing his $2 million health routine

LeBron James remains a phenomenon in the NBA, and not just for his skills on the court. Recently, rumors about his multimillion-dollar health and fitness expenditures have captured public attention. In 2018, former ESPN reporter Alex Kennedy revealed that Mav Carter stated, "LeBron James spends around $1,500,000 a year on his body." This includes treatments like cryotherapy, hyperbaric chambers, and a team of personal chefs and trainers.

    Comments from Kevin Garnett

Legendary Boston Celtics player Kevin Garnett also weighed in, commenting on the YouTube channel All The Smoke: "They say Bron spends 2 million on his body. You gotta spend some bread on your body. You have to go get stem cell plasma... if not, you just gotta be real with yourself and shut it down." His statement resonates especially at a time when many players are facing injuries and struggling to return to the game.

Despite the speculation, LeBron has chosen silence. In a recent interview for the Netflix series Starting 5, he said, "I've heard this crazy notion about how much money I spend on my body per year and I kind of just chuckle. That is a number that I will not disclose, but more importantly, I think it's the time." His laughter and relaxed demeanor only add to the mystery surrounding his health regimen.

Bronny James: Overcoming adversity after a life-altering cardiac arrest

In July 2023, the sports world was stunned when Bronny James, son of NBA legend LeBron James, suffered a cardiac arrest during a basketball practice at the University of Southern California. This life-threatening event not only threatened Bronny's promising career but also served as a stark reminder of the fragility of health, even for young athletes.

    The road to recovery

Fortunately, Bronny's story took a positive turn. Thanks to immediate medical attention and his own resilience, he made a remarkable recovery and eventually returned to the basketball court later that season. However, the experience left an indelible mark on his life, both physically and emotionally.

In a recent interview with Men's Health, Bronny opened up about his journey, offering a candid look at the challenges he's faced and the ongoing process of recovery.

    A new normal

Reflecting on the aftermath of his cardiac arrest, Bronny admitted, "My days aren't normal anymore." This simple statement encapsulates the profound impact the event has had on his daily life. At just 20 years old, Bronny finds himself navigating a new reality, one that requires constant vigilance and a renewed focus on his health.

The young athlete expressed that he is still working diligently to regain his previous level of fitness and performance. This journey involves not just physical rehabilitation but also mental and emotional resilience.

    Facing fears and emotions

When asked about the fear of never playing basketball again, Bronny revealed the emotional turmoil he experienced in the wake of his health scare. "At the point when it happened, there were a whole bunch of categories that what had happened could fall under, so yeah. There were a whole lot of emotions," he shared.

This candid admission highlights the often-overlooked mental challenges athletes face when confronted with health issues. For a young player on the cusp of a promising career, the possibility of it all ending so suddenly was undoubtedly daunting.

    A commitment to health

In response to his cardiac arrest, Bronny has taken significant steps to ensure his well-being. He mentioned his diligence in maintaining new routines, including breathing exercises and adhering to a strict regimen of heart medications. This commitment to his health is crucial, not only for his physical recovery but also for his mental resilience as he prepares to return to competitive basketball.

Bronny's approach to his recovery serves as an inspiring example of the dedication required to overcome such a significant health challenge. It also underscores the importance of prioritizing health and wellness in sports, a message that resonates far beyond the basketball court.

    Facing external pressures

As Bronny prepares for the upcoming NBA season, he faces not only the challenges of his recovery but also intense external scrutiny. The Los Angeles Lakers' decision to draft him in the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft has been met with mixed reactions. While many fans support the move, others criticize it as nepotism, arguing that it undermines the opportunities of other deserving players.

This added pressure presents yet another hurdle for Bronny to overcome. As he steps onto the NBA court, he'll need to prove himself not just as LeBron James' son, but as a player worthy of his spot on the team in his own right.

    Looking to the future

As the new season approaches, Bronny is acutely aware of the expectations placed upon him. The pressure to perform is palpable, but his journey has equipped him with a unique perspective. Having faced a life-threatening situation and come out the other side, Bronny has already demonstrated a level of resilience that extends far beyond the basketball court.

Will he be able to rise above the noise and prove himself in the NBA? Only time will tell, but one thing is certain: Bronny James is not just the son of a basketball legend; he is a resilient young man who has faced adversity head-on and emerged stronger for it.

    A new definition of success

Bronny's journey serves as an inspiring reminder of the strength and determination required to overcome life's challenges. His experience with cardiac arrest has not only reshaped his approach to basketball but has also highlighted the importance of health and wellness in sports.

In a world where athletes are often defined solely by their performance, Bronny James is redefining what it means to be a champion. He's showing that resilience, dedication, and a commitment to health are just as important as any victory on the scoreboard.

Social Media Reacts To The Viral Story Of Bronny James Retiring Alongside His Father

In June, the Los Angeles Lakers made history by selecting Bronny James with the No. 55 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.

Of course, there have been several father-son duos in BNA history, but this would be the first time the two play on the court together.

However, a parody Twitter account known as NBACentel has reported that Bronny James will retire alongside his father, LeBron.

If that sounds insane, you wouldn't be surprised to learn that it is also a parody account that has become famous for posting satirical content or fake news.

However, this didn't stop the internet from going crazy over the fake story, even though they knew it wasn't true.

"What a legend was in the league for one year and already broke the record for most points, assists, rebounds, steals, blocks, and everything else as a father son duo," joked one comment.

"As of today, I would've put Bronny James ahead of Tim Hardaway on the all time list," said another.

"That would be dope frfr. Bronny should be a warzone streamer and he would make millions off his name alone," a third added.

So far, Bronny James has appeared in five preseason games for the Lakers. None have been anything too impressive.

His best performance came against the Phoenix Suns when he dropped four points, two rebounds, and zero assists in 17 minutes.

In every other game, he has scored two or fewer points and has only accumulated three rebounds, one assist, and three blocks.

These numbers make it unlikely that he gets much important playing time when the regular season rolls around.

How poisonous is the Arizona bark scorpion, which scared LeBron James in the shower?

LeBron James won't forget this week's visit to Arizona for a long time. The Lakers traveled to the Grand Canyon State to take on the Suns in their penultimate game of the preseason. But the reason why this trip will be an unforgettable one for the American forward has little to do with what happened on the court. James came face to face with a poisonous scorpion as he got out of the shower in his hotel room.

LeBron was keen to share the full story on his socials, posting a video in which the small, but very poisonous, intruder appeared, walking freely through his bathroom and heading straight towards him while he was finishing his shower (or at least, trying to).

"The scorpion tried to get me when I was getting out of the shower. Luckily, I was walking with my head down and saw it move. Welcome to Arizona," LeBron wrote on his Instagram account, where the NBA star has millions of followers.

The Arizona bark scorpion, the most venomous of the species in North America

LeBron James' unexpected companion during his stay was an Arizona bark scorpion. This is a very common species found in homes throughout the United States - they are found in southern California, southern Nevada, extreme southwestern Utah and western New Mexico with a special presence in the state of Arizona.

The small (measuring at most 5.2 centimeters long) light brown-colored scorpion is a tough guy. It's the most venomous scorpion in North America one of the few whose venom is deadly to humans. And despite the NBA star's scare, it's not surprising that the forward came across one, since this type of scorpion is attracted to dark and damp places.

The Arizona bark scorpion's sting causes severe pain (sometimes with numbness, tingling, and vomiting) in adult humans, typically lasting between 24 and 72 hours. There have been two recorded fatalities in the state since 1968.

A scare that could have ended very badly for LeBron James, who is just days away from starting his 22nd season in the best basketball league in the world, where he will be, for the second consecutive year, the oldest player.

While LeBron and Bronny prepare for their historic family pairing, the Lakers shrug off the critics

Less than three years after James declared his desire to cap his decorated career by playing alongside Bronny, they've already teamed up in the preseason.

LOS ANGELES — LeBron James gets to end every practice these days by shooting hoops with his son.

When the Los Angeles Lakers cool down with small-group shooting sessions after workouts at their training complex, the top scorer in NBA history and 20-year-old Bronny James take turns putting up dozens of jumpers alongside third-year guard Max Christie.

Getting all this family time at work is still surreal to LeBron, even though he pretty much willed it into reality.

"For a father, it means everything," LeBron said.

Less than three years after James declared his desire to cap his decorated career by playing alongside Bronny, they've already teamed up in the preseason. They'll soon become the first father and son to play in a real NBA game at the same time, let alone on the same team.

"It's a special feeling, a different feeling, to work with him," said LeBron, who turns 40 in December. "When you go to work every day, you want to try to help each other. If it's a bad day for him, you pick him up. … There's things we can do that doesn't even need words. We can just look at each other and know."

The sports world has been looking at them both this fall as the Lakers embark on a remarkable experiment — albeit one that could present unique challenges for the James family's teammates and the Lakers' rookie head coach, JJ Redick.

Bronny has already acknowledged and lamented the social media stigma of favoritism and nepotism hovering over the start of his NBA career. The Lakers have also been criticized for using a draft pick to guarantee this father-son pairing, with detractors questioning the inclusion of Bronny and his still-raw skills in any contender's plans from a competitive standpoint.

"It won't be an easy situation necessarily to navigate," said Stan Van Gundy, the longtime NBA coach and current commentator. "There will be a lot of external noise about Bronny. If he doesn't play, people are going to want him to play with LeBron. If he's playing, people are going to say he doesn't deserve to be playing. ... But I think the focus should be that this is something to be celebrated. This is a phenomenal thing that we're not going to see much."

Indeed, only a handful of great athletes have ever played on the same professional sports team as their sons — and Ken Griffey Sr., Tim Raines and Gordie Howe were not still at the peak of their formidable skills when they teamed up with their progeny.

LeBron is still one of the NBA's best players, and the Lakers aspire to championship contention for a roster built around him and Anthony Davis.

In other words, this is no time for a stunt.

But Bronny's first few months on the roster have generated overwhelming positivity around the Lakers, both from the front office that orchestrated it and from the players suiting up alongside the James duo. No matter how much or how little the James family ends up playing together this season, the Lakers clearly don't regret making this bit of basketball history.

Davis has known Bronny well since Davis joined the Lakers in 2019, watching his maturation from a shy teen into a young man.

"It's awesome," Davis said. "It's historic. It's powerful. Bronny's locker is across from mine, so every time I walk in and see it, it's still surreal for me that he's on the same team as his dad. I can't wait until they step on the floor and officially make history, but it's been super-dope to watch so far."

While LeBron has been an international star for more than two decades, Bronny is quieter and more circumspect than his famous father. Friends and family have sometimes joked that his passion for video games is right up there with his passion for basketball, which only became the primary focus of his life a few years ago.

LeBron set these circumstances into motion with his declaration that he would end his career playing with his son, although he later amended his statement, saying he only hoped to play in the league at the same time as Bronny. That was the last thing on his mind one summer ago, when Bronny survived cardiac arrest during a workout at USC.

Although Bronny said it wasn't necessarily his own dream to play alongside his father, he still made it happen by entering the draft after just one truncated collegiate season.

The Lakers' front office is obviously and unabashedly on board with the plan. When Rob Pelinka chose Bronny with the 55th overall selection, the general manager said he did it with history in mind: "The biggest moments in sports happen with the Lakers."

Still, most basketball experts seem to agree Bronny is currently a fringe NBA prospect who almost certainly would have benefitted from another year or two in college. An identical 6-foot-2 player with a different last name probably wouldn't have been drafted, even with one of the final picks in the second round.

The appearance of favoritism or nepotism toward Bronny obviously has the potential to sour players who had to work harder and longer for their opportunity — yet there's no evidence anybody in a Lakers uniform is currently feeling that way.

If anything, the Lakers are uniformly protective of Bronny against the criticism he faces from the media's chattering class and from skeptical fans around the league.

"There's pressure on all of us, (but) the inherent pressure on him is a little different than most second-round picks, most 20 year olds," Redick said. "But I don't sense any nerves. For us, the thing we've talked with him, like a lot of young players, is you have to be more consistent with your effort and energy every day. Not to say it's been bad. ... I talk to him about the standard of who he is as a player, and he'll eventually build that standard, and it'll be apparent every game."

Bronny's new teammates have uniformly praised his work ethic and commitment to improving — and they say it's no surprise, since Bronny has spent his life watching his father's relentless drive to extend his unmatched career, which is now in its record-tying 22nd season.

Bronny has particularly earned respect for his defensive abilities since summer league play.

"He's tough," Davis said. "Obviously he's defensive-minded. Some great blocks. The physicality he gets over on screens. He's good with his hands as far as deflections and steals. But he's also still learning. He's still trying to figure everything out. We have to realize that. He's still a rookie. It's a different style of basketball, but I like what I'm seeing."

LeBron James Reacts to LeBron XXII 'Crown Jewel' Shoes Hype Video and Release Date

    Ethan Miller/Getty Images

With less than a month before the release of the next edition of his signature shoe line, Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is rightfully excited.

Nike released a video promoting the upcoming LeBron XXII "Crown Jewel" sneakers ahead of the Nov. 1 release date, and James reacted on social media with three emojis:

"We engineered the LeBron XXII to match his powerful and agile playing style," Ross Klein, senior director of men's basketball footwear product design, told Pat Benson of Kicks on SI. "To move with the force and precision LeBron needs, we focused on delivering maximum lockdown control, all while maintaining the speed, lightweight feel and court connection that he's loved in his recent signature models."

James debuted the Nike LeBron 22 over the summer while playing with Team USA ahead of the Paris Olympics. He wore two new colorways before and during the gold-medal game against France on Aug. 10 on his way to helping the team achieve its fifth straight Olymic gold.

A new edition of James' signature line has been released by Nike every year since his first season in the NBA in 2003-04. He signed a lifetime contract with the company in 2015.

James will be embarking on the 22nd season of his iconic career when the Lakers open the 2024-25 campaign on Tuesday against the Minnesota Timberwolves at 10 p.m. ET on TNT. Sneaker heads will certainly be excited to see which colorway the 39-year-old will be wearing when he takes the court in the season opener.

Video: Lakers' Anthony Davis Talks 'Strange' LeBron James to Warriors Trade Rumors

    Adam Pantozzi/NBAE via Getty Images

It's not often LeBron James is in the middle of trade rumors, but the Los Angeles Lakers star found himself in that position last year amid speculation about a deal that would send him to the Golden State Warriors.

For his co-star Anthony Davis, it was odd to hear about James potentially being involved in a trade for the first time in his career.

"I wasn't on social media at the time so I didn't see it. I heard about... it was national news," Davis said. "But I don't think it affected anybody. I mean, I think that might be the first time ever he was in trade talks in his career. He's kind of seen everything, so I don't think that affected him, it didn't affect our team. But it was definitely strange to hear in a sense of like, it was the first time he's ever been talked about in a trade before."

In February, shortly after the trade deadline, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski and Ramona Shelburne reported that the Warriors proposed a trade for James that would bring him to Golden State, but James and the Lakers were not "willing to explore" the deal.

The blockbuster trade would have teamed up James and his longtime rival Stephen Curry, but he ultimately preferred to stick with Davis and Los Angeles.

For the first time, James and Curry played together as they led Team USA to a gold medal at the Paris Olympics. James spoke highly of playing with the star he has competed against for the last decade.

"It was everything and more," James said Monday, per the Associated Press' Greg Beacham. "I was super excited to be able to finally team up with him in a win-or-die type atmosphere. That's what it was, being a part of the Olympics. It was everything that I dreamed of and aspired to want, to be a part of that team, along with Steph. Great memories. Something that I'll remember from my basketball career for the rest of my life, for sure."

Though he looks back at his time with Curry fondly, James admitted that he has "no idea" if he'll ever team up with him again, per ESPN's Dave McMenamin.

For now, James will focus on the season ahead for himself, Davis and the Lakers. Los Angeles finished last season 47-35 and reached the playoffs via the play-in tournament, losing to the Denver Nuggets in the first round.

James, who will be 40 in December, is hoping to continue to add to his already historic resume with another title.

LeBron James eyeing JJ Redick's Job: Is his courtside pullover a fashion statement or a job application?

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James warming up before a preseason game in Las VegasLAPRESSE

Every basketball player has their unique pre-game ritual, and LeBron James is no exception.

From his early morning routines to his famous chalk toss, James has shared much about his preparation. However, a new ritual has surfaced, thanks to NBA Reddit, that may have some larger implications-especially for Lakers head coach JJ Redick.

LeBron James shows off epic moves shaking off criticism

LeBron James seen in Lakers coach's gear

LeBron's recent courtside behavior has raised eyebrows, not because of what he's doing on the court, but what he's wearing off it.

According to a Reddit thread, fans have noticed that James has been consistently sporting a coach's pullover instead of the traditional Lakers warm-up gear.

This subtle but notable shift has sparked questions: Is LeBron James positioning himself for a future in coaching, even while still actively playing?

It might sound trivial at first-after all, it's just a shirt.

But LeBron's switch to the coach's pullover over his player gear is raising intrigue about his intentions.

Could James be signaling his desire to take on a coaching role, either after he retires or even during his final playing years?

Redick still working on team leadership

Redick has brought a new sense of structure and calm to the Lakers, guiding them through a promising preseason despite a few setbacks.

While Redick has worked hard to establish his presence as the leader of the team, LeBron's words during Media Day hinted that his voice, too, holds significant weight on and off the court.

"I'll be an extension of the coaching staff on the floor,"James said, referring to his leadership role.

It's clear that James sees himself not just as a player, but as a strategic mind in the game.

His choice to wear the coach's attire only reinforces this idea, perhaps suggesting that he's ready to step into a more formal role at any moment.

As Lakers fans speculate over James' possible future in coaching, Redick's position as head coach could face scrutiny if the team is off to a slow start in the beginning of the season.

For now, the coaching pullover remains a symbol of the unknown-one that JJ Redick might want to keep an eye on.

Anthony Davis gives LeBron James to Warriors trade rumors 'strange' label

Anthony Davis recalls when the Los Angeles Lakers nearly went through a wholesale change at the 2023-2024 trade deadline that would have shaken up the entire league. The near-trade started with a rumor and ended with the Golden State Warriors attempting to send in an offer for LeBron James.

As the 2024-2025 season inches closer, Davis reflected on the moment that he called "strange." The 31-year-old said that nothing about the rumor affected the team and was a mere abnormal afterthought for most of the players.

"I can't remember how I heard about it, I think my dad called me," Davis said, via Dave McMenamin of ESPN. "I don't think it affected anything [but] I think that might've been the first time that [LeBron James has] been in trade talks in his career. That didn't affect our team. It was definitely strange to hear in the sense of it was the first time he was talked about in a trade before."

The rumors were confirmed when ESPN reported that the Warriors went all-in on pursuing the trade at the deadline but were shut down by both Rob Pelinka and James' agent, Rich Paul. Golden State owner Joe Lacob reportedly reached out to Lakers owner Jeanie Buss to inquire about James' availability before general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. took over.

James had no desire to leave Los Angeles and ended the season with Davis on the Lakers. In the offseason, the team selected his son, Bronny James, with the No. 55 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, effectively guaranteeing that he would remain with the team for the rest of his career.

LeBron James: 'No Idea' If Steph Curry and I Will Ever Team Up Again After Olympics

The Los Angeles Lakers are scheduled for two preseason games against the Golden State Warriors this week, and LeBron James spoke about his experience playing alongside Stephen Curry for Team USA at the Paris Olympics.

James said teaming up with Curry was "everything I dreamed of," but when asked about the possibility of the two of them wearing the same uniform again at some point, he responded, "I have no idea."

James and Curry were among the headliners on a star-studded Team USA roster that included fellow former NBA MVPs Kevin Durant and Joel Embiid as well as a slew of All-Stars like Devin Booker, Anthony Davis and Anthony Edwards. The team had a perfect 6-0 run through the Paris Olympics, earning its fifth straight gold medal.

James discussed the confidence that came with playing alongside Curry and Durant, saying "that type of firepower" made it nearly impossible for them to fail.

"How do you lose when you have three of the best players to ever play the game of basketball?" James asked.

Curry also spoke about the connection he developed with James during their time together in the Olympics.

"All the battles we've had on the court and the back and forth, the fact that we actually got to be teammates, not just in any game like an All-Star game or whatever, but in high stakes basketball with a lot on the line...I think there's a deepened respect and friendship there," he told Natasha Dye of People last month, adding, "Hopefully, there will be more experiences in the future, even if we're teammates or not."

Now, James and Curry will be back to vying for supremacy in a talented Western Conference during the 2024-25 campaign.

Does LeBron James Really Spend $1.5 Million Per Year On His Body?

Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James is entering an unprecedented campaign. There is no denying that he is still an elite player and one of the best in the league, yet he is entering his 22nd NBA season, tying Vince Carter for the most ever by a player.

In his 22nd season, Carter was a bench player without a guaranteed role for the Atlanta Hawks. So it remains a mystery how James had fended off Father Time and remained one of the best players in the league. It has been rumored, though, that part of James' secret is a multi-million dollar budget on things to take care of his body.

James finally got the chance to address these rumors in the Netflix series "Starting 5," following the lives of five NBA players during the 2023-24 season.

"I've heard this crazy notion about how much money I spend on my body per year and I kind of just chuckle. That is a number that I will not disclose, but more importantly, I think it's the time," James said.

LeBron, of course, probably spends significant amounts to take care of his body. It may not even be a number that he fully knows. But whatever he is doing to keep his play and his health at this level, he should continue doing so, as it has bought him and the Lakers extra years of good basketball.

It remains to be seen how much longer James is going to be able to fight off Father Time. The battle he has put on so far is perhaps the most impressive the sports world has ever seen. But he has already begun hinting at the retirement conversation, meaning that the battle is slowly coming to an end.

LeBron James is not only one of the greatest players to ever pick up a basketball, but also has his hands in a ton of off-court things. Quite simply, LeBron is one of the most influential athletes the world has ever known and he will continue to make a great impact long after his playing career is done.

In the world of fashion, the biggest night of the year is the Met Gala where all of the biggest names and faces from around the world come out. And in 2025, LeBron is now set to to be part of that as well.

On ESPN's NBA Today, Malika Andrews announced that James was named a co-chair of the 2025 Met Gala alongside the likes of actor Colman Domingo and F1 star Lewis Hamilton, among others.

LeBron James Campaigning for Son Bronny to Have Own Call of Duty Character Skin; “Let’s Talk” Activision Says

While LeBron James might be one of the best basketball players of all-time, another feather the NBA legend can put in his cap is how in the coming NBA season, he will be the first player in league history to play alongside his son on the same floor. It seems the father and son duo are not stopping there, as they're now aiming to be in Call of Duty as well.

Over on Twitter, LeBron mentioned how his son Bronny wants to have his own operator skin in Call of Duty, and even tagged the official Activision and Call of Duty Twitter accounts to "talk" to him:

Not one to bypass a chance for more promotion, the official Call of Duty account replied that they want to talk to, and how the first father-son duo NBA history could be the first one in Call of Duty history as well.

Needless to say, not only is LeBron influential enough to get his own son drafted by the L.A. Lakers, but seems to have enough clout to get him into Call of Duty even. Chances are, Activision will integrate LeBron and Bronny as operator skins for the soon-to-be released Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, which should also be available to use in Call of Duty: Warzone.

Will We See LeBron and Bronny in Call of Duty?

Will this happen? Given LeBron is interested, Activision is also interested, I'd say yes. Once the legalities and money is out of the way, there's no stopping LeBron and his son from appearing in Call of Duty. They will probably be part of a cosmetic bundle to be sold, which means players have the choice of not buying it at all if they don't want to.

LeBron and his son won't be the first or more recent NBA player to make their way into Call of Duty. as we got Kevin Durant introduced in Modern Warfare 2 last year.

This isn't Bronny James' brush with video games as well, as just a few months ago, Bronny commented on what rating he felt he deserved in NBA 2K25.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be released this October 25 on the PS4, Xbox One, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Will we see LeBron and Bronny's operator skins drop soon after? Once we get more news about that, we'll let our readers know.
