Another day, another historic milestone in the legendary career of LeBron James.
Fresh off being named Western Conference Player of the Month for February, James led the red-hot Los Angeles Lakers to their seventh straight win with a 136-115 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday night.
James finished with a team-high 34 points, eight rebounds and six assists in 33 minutes. His first bucket of the game made him the first player in NBA history to reach 50,000 career points combined between the regular season and playoffs.
The list of career achievements for James is already long enough to fill a book roughly the length of Infinite Jest, but the 50,000-point milestone is arguably his most impressive feat because it speaks to his level of sustained dominance that we may never see again.
Even James seemed overwhelmed by the moment when discussing his career point total after the game, telling Spectrum SportsNet's Mike Trudell it's "pretty special."
After James' historic moment, fans were quick to show their appreciation for what he has done.
James said afterward that the most difficult part about sustaining this level of play now 22 years into his career is "not falling out of love with the process" that it takes to get ready for each season.
Somewhat lost in James' historic night is another game in which Luka Dončić looks to be rounding into peak form. He had his best performance as a member of the Lakers, finishing with 34 points on 6-of-13 three-point shooting, 15 assists and eight rebounds.
The Western Conference runs through Oklahoma City, as it should. The Thunder have been the best team in the West all season and boast a loaded roster with as much young talent as any organization in the NBA.
Based on how the Lakers have been playing for nearly two months now, with a 17-3 record in their last 20 games, they're putting themselves firmly in the conversation to be a strong contender to play in the NBA Finals.
Everything is clicking on both ends of the court in Los Angeles right now. James is showing no signs of slowing down. Dončić is heating up. Those two are more than capable of carrying a team very far in the postseason.
The Lakers will look to keep their positive momentum going on Thursday in a marquee game against the New York Knicks at Crypto.com Arena.
