Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James finished sixth in the NBA MVP voting, notably receiving one fourth-place vote and 13 fifth-place votes, per NBA Communications.
The full results, led by MVP winner Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder, can be found below. Twelve players received votes in total, meaning a media member listed them either first, second, third, fourth or fifth on their ballot.
In his 22nd NBA season, the 40-year-old James averaged 24.4 points on 51.3 percent shooting, 8.2 assists and 7.8 rebounds per game.
The fact that James just completed his 22nd season is remarkable enough. He and Vince Carter are the only two players in NBA history to play in that many campaigns.
James is also second on the all-time games played list, behind only Robert Parish with 1,611 total. James needs just 50 games played next year to land first on that list all-time solo.
But James also completed his 22nd season by landing sixth on the MVP list, which is an incredible accomplishment. He played and started 70 games and led the Lakers to 50 wins and the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference playoffs.
So his top-five MVP votes are certainly well-deserved.
This was a year where there was a clear top-two in SGA and Denver Nuggets big man Nikola Jokić, with Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo behind them at third.
Then the Boston Celtics' Jayson Tatum (as the best player on a 61-win team) and the Cleveland Cavaliers' Donovan Mitchell (as the best player on the top-seeded, 64-win Cavs in the East) rounded out the top five.
But seeing James finish sixth behind those elite talents at the age of 40 is another remarkable accomplishment on his resume.
