Leaked Audio Shows How Anthony Edwards Trash-Talking LeBron James, Tells Him To Congratulate Gobert

Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards has been jawing with LeBron James all series. In a recent leaked audio, Edwards could be heard talking trash to James and demanding that the Lakers forward congratulate Rudy Gobert for a dominant p erformance in Game 5.

Edwards: "Big Ru [Gobert], you played your a** off tonight. Congratulate my motherf***ing teammate. Yeah, Ru. The f**k are they talking about. All that sh*t they've been talking about. Rudy got 30 tonight!"

Edwards spoke to Gobert while the center was on the bench. However, he also directed that James acknowledge the Wolves' big man and his vital contribution in Game 5.

Rudy Gobert was certainly a pivotal figure for Minnesota in the series' final game. After the first four games, Gobert had notched an average of 3.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.3 steals, and 0.5 blocks per game. In light of this, he outdid himself by putting up the first 20-20 game of this year's playoffs with 27 points and 24 rebounds to go with two blocks.

Gobert's dominance paved the way for the Timberwolves to close out the Lakers 103-96 in Game 5 on the road. Although the French big man had a solid performance, Edwards himself was rather ordinary.

With only 15 points on the night, the guard wasn't as impactful. However, he still found a way to contribute to the winning effort with 11 rebounds, eight assists, and three steals. Considering the quality of his performance for the rest of the games, after a long and hard-fought series, Edwards had every right to mock the Lakers.

Anthony Edwards was masterful in this first-round matchup. While going head-to-head against James for the better part of the series, Edwards put up an average of 26.8 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 6.2 assists per game. His display also garnered a lot of attention as he overcame yet another NBA legend, adding to his tally of successful conquests.

Edwards looked like a man possessed, and considering all the chatter about the Lakers being favored to win the series, it was clear that the young star had all the motivation he needed. Following the win, he did not hesitate to mock the iconic "Lakers in 5" statement. Considering the hype that was going around the Purple and Gold, the Wolves successfully silenced a lot of critics and naysayers.

The 23-year-old guard has made a monumental rise to greatness in the eyes of the media. Having beaten the Lakers in five games, Edwards and the Timberwolves established themselves as contenders heading into the next round.

The Timberwolves are still awaiting their opponents. However, given the kind of form they are in, they will remain a tough match for whoever emerges as the winner of the Rockets-Warriors series.
