After reaching the conference finals for the first time in 25 years, the New York Knicks have been hard at work upgrading their roster. While most of their moves in the margins, a recent mock trade has them landing one of the NBA's biggest stars.
Over the past few weeks, one of the main storylines in the NBA has been LeBron James and his future with the LA Lakers. After accepting his player option for next season, there has been a lot of discourse about him possibly being traded. While there has been endless speculation on the subject, recent developments have stated that the two sides have not discussed a trade or a buyout.

In light of all the LeBron trade chatter, there have been countless mock trades centered around the 21-time All-Star. One recent framework has the Knicks parting with a pair of rotation pieces to bring in more star power.
Knicks receive - LeBron James, Bronny James
Hawks receive - Maxi Kleber
Lakers receiver - Josh Hart, OG Anunoby
While LeBron is still a high-level player at this point in his career, a move like this doesn't make much sense for the Knicks. Anunoby and Hart are both two-way productive forwards who have come up big in the postseason. New York should not be eager to part with them for an aging star on an expiring contract.

Looking at the rest of the contenders in the league, teams have gone back to relying on depth instead of stockpiling stars. If the Knicks are going to fulfill their championship aspirations, they'll need a deep rotation around the duo of Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns. Because of these trends, sacrificing t wo of their top forwards for a 40-year-old LeBron isn't something worth considering for New York.
Following their pair of big trades last offseason, rounding out the edges of the roster has been the primary focus for the Knicks.
