LeBron James is a Cleveland Browns fan, so it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that he chose them as his sleeper team for the 2025 season in a video for DraftKings Sportsbook.
Predicting a team with Joe Flacco as the starting quarterback—and the most controversial QB3 in the league in Shedeur Sanders—is, uh, quite the choice.
James went a bit less rogue with his other predictions for the 2025 season, picking a rematch between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl (he didn't predict a winner) and Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson as the MVP.
Expectations definitely aren't very high for the Browns heading into the 2025 season.
The Athetic's Austin Mock projected them to win 5.4 games, and that was deemed too lofty by his colleague, Zac Jackson, who wrote that "the Browns are going to let Flacco fling it until it's time to pull the plug and play the rookie quarterbacks, and I just don't see enough roster depth or enough offensive pop for the Browns to become a true surprise team. They'll be feisty, and ultimately they'll fade into the reality of the best plan, which is playing for the future and trying to secure a high draft pick for next April."
DraftKings Sportsbook has the Browns at +125 to go over 5.5 wins and -150 to finish under that mark. Pro Football Focus projected the team to win 5.5 games. Are you picking up the theme here?
The rest of James' projections make sense. The Eagles are the defending champions and while they lost some key contributors this offseason, Howie Roseman has consistently reinforced the roster with young talent and found value on the fringes of free agency. This remains arguably the strongest roster in the NFL.
The Chiefs, meanwhile, still have Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid. Not much else needs to be said about their Super Bowl hopes so long as those two remain in the picture.
Finally, Jackson is a safe pick for MVP. He arguably should have won the award last year after throwing for 4,172 yards, 41 touchdowns and just four interceptions, completing 66.7 percent of his passes. He also rushed for 915 yards and four touchdowns and was named a first-team All-Pro, though Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen ultimately won MVP.
