Not the ideal start to the upcoming season Laker fans were hoping for
With the 2025-26 NBA season imminent, stunning news has just emerged from the Lakers' training camp regarding our beloved basketball legend.
For roughly the first month of the season or so, Luka and the rest of the Lakers will hit the hardwood without their team leader and starting small forward, LeBron James, who has been diagnosed with sciatica on the right side of his back torso. Sciatica is a type of irritation involving the sciatic nerve, which happens to be the largest nerve found in the human body and is caused by either a herniated disk or spinal stenosis.
Symptoms of sciatica typically include a pain and/or numbing feeling that affects the lower back area, lower leg area, and buttocks, causing deep waves of discomfort upon movement. At age 40, a health concern of this magnitude is something new for James' illustrious career, who's held a remarkable track record as one of the healthiest players in the league since his rookie year.
So far, James has not been active in a full team practice, and hasn't played in at least two preseason games. And while we only have a rough estimate of his return, we can only be hopeful that things get better from here.
The start of the Lakers' season takes place on October 21st against Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors here at Crypto Arena.
