Tyrese Haliburton Updates LeBron James on Achilles Injury Rehab, 'The Process Has Sucked'

Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton provided an update on his recovery from a torn Achilles and said he's feeling "really good" as the process goes on eight months.

The topic came up as Haliburton was helped co-host LeBron James' Mind the Game podcast.

"Just started playing like three-on-three and four-on-four full-court," he said at the 21:54 mark. "That's been good to be with the interns and stuff. ... I think the biggest thing is like, I really am glad for where I am. I'm thankful for it. The process has sucked, man. There's been good days, bad days. There's days where I sit there, I just keep asking, 'Why is this happening to me?' It's hard for me to understand in this moment. But I understand that it's allow ing me grow in different ways."

The two-time All-Star said he knows he's still a ways off from being in true game shape. He joked about looking good when playing against the interns but getting a rude awakening when matching up with his teammates in light workouts.

The Pacers wasted little time in ruling Haliburton out for the entire 2025-26 season. Pacers president Kevin Pritchard said as much in early July after the dynamic guard underwent Achilles surgery.

< p class="MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-bp_small__body__article__medium css-1vqr2el">Not surprisingly, Indiana's fortunes have declined substantially without its best player. The team has the NBA's second-worst record (11-36).

The silver lining is that the Pacers are likely to land a high lottery pick, giving them a promising young star to pair with Haliburton and Pascal Siakam when they look to contend for the playoffs in 2026-27.
