In the latest Mind the Game podcast episode, Los Angeles Lakers stars LeBron James and Austin Reaves broke down a viral Jan. 2022 video showcasing an interaction YES Network cameras caught between the two in the closing moments of a 106-96 victory over the Brooklyn Nets.
In the v ideo, James is tutoring Reaves, who was in his rookie season at this point. Reaves seemed to be having trouble grasping whatever concept James was trying to convey.
"Why was Bron even in the game right now? It's over," Reaves asked. James posited that he probably needed to stay in to get another rebound or an assist.
After the game, James posted a still shot of the interaction on Instagram with a caption: "Don't do anything I would do. And definitely don't do anything I wouldn't do. There's a lil gray area in there and that's where you operate." That is in reference to an iconic line Tony Stark gave Peter Parker in the movie, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and James posted an image of the two of them from that film too.
R eaves also noted that his social media following blew up after James posted that on Instagram.
These days, Reaves has developed into a star, averaging 23.5 points, 5.5 assists and 4.7 rebounds per game. James is doing quite well himself in his 23rd NBA season, posting 21.0 points, 6.9 assists and 5.9 rebounds. Those two plus potential All-NBA First Teamer Luka Dončić guide a third-place Laker team that's won 12 of 14 games.
