When they are not on the court, James and Doncic have made efforts to give back to the community i n various ways.
James founded the LeBron James Family Foundation in 2004, which is a non-profit organization focused on helping underserved children in James' hometown of Akron, Ohio. Even though James has not played in Ohio since leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers for the Lakers in 2018, he still devotes time to supporting his hometown community.
"His goal, I believe, is to have 10% of his wealth go to causes and support communities, which is an amazing goal," said professor of sports management at George Washington University Lisa Delpy Neirotti in February 2023, per the NBA. "I would say he's maybe above and beyond others, just on that aspiration alone."

Doncic founded the Luka Doncic Foundation on World Basketball Day (Dec. 21) in 2024. His foundation focuses on providing a safe and fun environment for children to learn how to play basketball.
"Luka continues to make a lasting impact locally, as well as on a global scale helping children and families in need from Dallas to Slovenia. … We share values to help improve the health and well-being of children through sports and play," said Youth Sports Leadership Council member and Golden States Warriors star Stephen Curry, per the NBA. "Together, we will help create places for kids to be active, get outdoors, use their imagination and participate in youth sports."
