  • LeBron James said he's proud of the way he he shows up in his relationship with wife Savannah as the Lakers celebrated their annual girl dad night.

After the Lakers 142-130 win over the Chicago Bulls on Thursday, March 12, LeBron, 41, told reporters how the way he treats Savannah, 39, is one of the ways he honors his role as a girl dad to daughter Zhuri Nova, 11.

When asked to share what he thinks is the best lesson he's taught Zhuri, LeBron replied, "The way I treat her mother. The love that I have inside the family, the accountability that I have inside the family, the way I think I treat her mom and her grandmothers, my mom and my mother-in-law and her siblings."

The father of three, whose son Bronny James is also his Lakers teammate, continued, "I think a lot of habits that kids have come from their households. A lot of love comes from their households. A lot of things that they can take with them as they get older and whatever the case may be, they learn in their households."

LeBron went on to share that "one of the best compliments" he and Savannah get from other parents is when their three children, Zhuri, Bronny and 18-year-old Bryce, are described as "so well-mannered" and "great kids." "That's the greatest compliment we can get, and I just think the love that, my daughter [sees] how I treat her mom, and like I said, how I treat her grandmothers and how I treat the household."

LeBron added, "Yeah, I love girl dads. It's pretty cool and I'm happy to be one," admitting that becoming a father to Zhuri "definitely softened me up a lot for sure."

Created in 2024 and held in March to coincide with Women's History Month, the Lakers annual girl dad initiative aims to honor girls in sports and show gratitude for the fathers who support and uplift their daughters. The night features nods to various girl dad Lakers players, like LeBron and Luka Dončić, as well as the legendary, late Kobe Bryant.

Father-daughter vocal duo Matt and Savanna sang the National Anthem before tip-off on Thursday and at halftime, the Laker Girls performed with their fathers in a special dance.

"It's really just a celebration for all the da ds out there who had supported their daughters and encouraged them to chase their dreams," Laker Girl Jenna said after her father, Randy, joined her for the performance at Crypto.com Arena. "It means so much to all of us, especially me," Jenna continued, crediting Randy for being her "number one cheerleader" and a "major reason" she's a Laker Girl today.

"My dad never missed one of my performances, he sat through 12 hour long competition days," added Jenna.

F or Randy, "and all of us dance dads," he says, being out there on the purple and gold court with his daughter "truly does mean so much to be able to do this and be dancing, what my daughter does so incredibly," he said.

Randy also shared a few pieces of wisdom for other girl-dads on the special night. "One, know what Jenna's Starbuck's drink is, although it changes, knowing that when she says one minute or two minutes, it probably doesn't mean that, and another is to be patient and enjoying having fun supporting her and being there throughout her journey."
