LeBron James plans to turn his custom Maybach to support Akron families: "This was an experience I could not pass up on"

During a recent Complex video, Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James unveiled an ultra-luxury Maybach S 680 sedan painted in a light ivory non-metallic color, with a stormy blue interior and porcelain-themed seats.

According to LeBron, the car is one-of-a-kind because he helped design it. However, James also revealed that he did not just customize one Maybach but two, with the other almost identical to the one he posed with.

"I had an incredible opportunity to be part of a creative process in the customized twin Mercedes Maybach S Classes, one for my collection and one as a near-identical version t o auction off for my Foundation, to support my families in Akron, which is very special to my heart. There will only be two in the whole world that were ever made like this, which is super special, super unique, and this was an experience I could not pass up on," said LeBron.

Plenty of LeBron logos on the car

The car was built under Mercedes-Benz's "Manufaktur" program, where buyers can customize cars to their liking - including car color, materials,+ and craftsmanship. For Bron, aside from the paint and interior color, he made sure his logo was literally everywhere on the car.

As LeBon showed in the video, the left side of the body features James' crown logo in chrome, while his three kids' birthdays are written on the driver's side stepsill. The crown logo also appears on the dashboard, footboards, headrest, and pillows.

Meanwhile, the Akron coordinates of "41.0814° N, 81.5190° W" are imprinted on the center console. Aside from his logos, LBJ talked about Maybach's branding.

"I think this Double M, Mercedes Maybach, that logo right there speaks volumes. It speaks elegance. It speaks power. It speaks craftsmanship. Everything that you can think of, when it comes to just being above the curve and elegance," he added.

Maybach told one part of the story a couple of days ago

A few days ago Ma ybach's social media page posted the same S 680 car after it was delivered to LeBron's Los Angeles home. But the post focused more on LeBron adding another beauty to his car collection, which includes a Ferrari F430 Spider, Ferrari 458 Spider, Lamborghini Aventador, Porsche 918 Spyder, and a Maybach 57S. However, that was only half the story. The other half is about charity.

"Thinking about my kids and families in Akron that are unbelievable. Hopefully, we continue to shed light on them in a positive way in my community," LeBron added. "Just want to say thank you. It means everything to me. It means everything to my kids and my families at the "I Promise" program community."

The LeBron James Family Foundation began the "I Promise" initiative in 2011 with "Wheels for Education," providing bicycles and helmets to selected students in Akron. Later, it included paying for their college tuition until James built a school in 2018. From there, it grew to building affordable houses for its beneficiaries.

Many talk about LeBron as the NBA's all-time leading scorer and the owner of many records. Others say he is the GOAT of basketball, while others say he is second only to Michael Jordan as the greatest player of all time. But LeBron's greatest legacy is his community work in his hometown.

And this custom Maybach is the latest proof that, for whatever luxury he rewards himself with, he never forgets to leave behind the people in Akron whom he promised to take with him along his journey to success.
